Dear Members of Our Lady of Victory and Holy Spirit Mission,

I have received a directive from Bishop Guillory to suspend the public celebration of the Mass and the holding of all other assemblies after Thursday, March 19.  This suspension is in place until further notice.  You can read the Bishop’s statement as well as a list of available streaming Masses on the diocesan Website: www.diocesesofbmt.org

I am grateful to the Bishop for his action to safeguard the health and safety of the people of the Diocese of Beaumont.

I will offer Mass everyday privately.  I have all the Intentions which you have submitted to the office.  I will pray for your intentions.

I will be opening Our Lady of Victory Church for silent, private prayer only, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. everyday.  I you wish to come pray, you must practice proper social distancing.

The Our Lady of Victory office will maintain regular hours at this time.  If the hours change, I announce that.

I will be opening Holy Spirit Mission for silent, private prayer only from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesdays.  The Mission office will be open at that time also.

You can bring your offering envelopes to your church office or mail them to the office.  You can also have your bank send a check to your church.

I am available to hear confessions and anointing the sick upon request.  Scheduled confession and the Penance Service are cancelled.

All Religious Education classes are cancelled until further notice.

Our April 15 Confirmation at the Basilica will be rescheduled through the Bishop’s office after the ban on assemblies has been lifted.

All members of the diocese are dispensed from the obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligations.

Our Website and Facebook page will provide updates when I have new information to share.

At this difficult time, it is important to remember that the Lord Jesus is in control.  Remember, his words; “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” (Matthew 18:20) Your family is a “domestic church.”  Make sure to set aside an hour on Sunday for reading the Scriptures and prayer.  Make an act of Spiritual Communion.

Let us pray for our community, our state, our nation, and all peoples of the world as we face this pandemic in solidarity with one another.

God bless you!

Father Ross
